Yesterday I ran it on the translated document. It pointed out a few errors, though not the repeated words. This last revision is the result of fixing some of those problems.

132

I deliberately left "ports" and "packages" untranslataded, since this is consistent with the currently translated version of the handbook. I have no strong feelings one way or the other, but if we're going to translate them, then we should probably document it somewhere.

144

Removing the dashes (—) results in a document that is formatted different than the original. We should leave them as they are.

169

Translating "script" as "guión" is wrong, since "script" is a technical term, and this is likely to cause confussion.

451

"Kernel" is a technical term, and I don't think we stand to gain anything from translating it. Most spanish translations of the scientific literature (for example: Tanembaum's book on operating systems) refer to it as "Kernel" and not "Núcleo".

833

I'm not sure of what poedit did here. It certainly wasn't intentional on my part.

There seems to be something funny going on when I try to fix this. If I edit the .diff file manually (after downloading it from Phabricator) and then try to upload it again with the second line removed it spits out an error.

I have to go back to the original .po file and see what's going on there.

969

I find this is a similar problem to the translation of Kernel. Though this is a minor example, since users will probably not be able to tell the difference. The vast majority of technical books refer to it as "Firewall".

Added a few inline comments.

In addition to that, "guión" doesn't even make sense here.

833

Is this a problem to you when you apply the patch? Poedit seems to be generating this lines automatically... I don't think they can be removed (at least not manually). It certainly isn't a problem on the generated document, at least for me.

Hi!

I cannot agree with the use of English terms for which Spanish equivalents exist and I will always try to encourage their use as long as they are not absolutely against common practice, but I understand that this is a personal choice that can not be enforced unless you are the editor of the publication. As I’m not in that position, I accept the revision and thank you for your work.

Best regards,
Juan

I have a style question about titles. In English, we have some odd rules about capitalizing only some words in titles. In effect, it works out to making the important words capitalized. The first and last words are also always capitalized. For example, the English title is "Introduction to NanoBSD".

Is there a similar style for Spanish titles?

Overall, style will have to be agreed upon by a particular translation team. We can add sections to the PO Translations chapter of the FDPP to show those language-specific style suggestions.

No, titles in Spanish are not capitalized, only the first word an proper nouns.

All right. Since this is approved, I will commit it. Thanks!
