I must be confused, but are you telling me that the expected Linux-compatible "linrdlnk" behavior when stat(2):ing fdescfs objects is that the first time return information about the "symlink" and then the rest of the time return information about the target it points to? That sounds rather... strange.

A 13.2-RELEASE kernel built with the changes above seems to fix my issue.

Did a quick test with Samba and a FreeBSD 13.2-RELEASE kernel modified with the fix for acl_get_fd and now I can create new directories and read the ACL of it. But attempting to modify the ACL from a Windows 10 client fails with:

Regarding testing the patch - I'll try to find some more/other models of HP RAID controllers and verify the functionality with them. There should be people out there using HP controllers already on smaller machines so I can try to find some people using HP RAID cards to test it too...
